Disciples in Training, April 2005
Two consecutive Aprils, the Disciples of Christ Volunteers in Mission (now the Office of Disciples Volunteering) has brought the summer interns to
UrbanSpirit for a training event, preparing them for mission service all over the country. These are great events and we are proud to welcome them.
Leaders this year included Audrey Connor, Carl and Robin Zerweck, and Deb.  (We actually worked during this event, but nobody took pictures!)

Marching for Life
In August 2004, Deb participated as a Peacekeeper in the March for Our Lives at the Republican National Convention in New York City,
sponsored by the Poor People's Economic Human Rights Campaign.

Working for Justice

In May 2004, the Coalition of Immokalee Workers came to Louisville, hoping to attain just wages through the Yum! Brands shareholders. They were our guests during their stay, and we are thrilled to be partners in the quest for justice. They were back again in 2005, this time winning the fight!

The Day We Had a Fire

Early on a May 2004 Saturday, we awakened during a training event to discover a fire burning next door to our beloved drugstore, and spreading fast. The damage was minimal, as fires go, but we spent the day attending to firefighters, insurance adjusters, and the shock of the whole thing. Said one training participant: "Boy, you really go all out for these training events."
